We do not accept insurance and are considered an out-of-network provider. This means you pay for services directly, but we’re happy to provide you with a Super Bill that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Many clients also use their Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for therapy services.

We’ve chosen this model so we can provide appropriate, evidence-based care tailored to your specific needs. Insurance companies often impose limitations and requirements that may not align with best practices or the most effective treatments for your situation. By remaining independent, we can focus entirely on delivering high-quality care that supports your goals. If you have any questions, we’re here to help guide you through the process.

A superbill is a detailed invoice that includes all the necessary information for you to submit a claim to your health insurance company and/or Health Savings Account (“HSA”) administrator for potential reimbursement. While we may not bill your insurance directly, a superbill allows you to take advantage of any health insurance / HSA benefits you may have. It includes details like session dates, fees, and diagnostic codes. If you're unsure about your insurance benefits, we’re happy to guide you through the process of using a superbill to maximize your coverage.

Our fees vary depending on the type and length of the session. Each provider at Silver Birch is uniquely trained and offers a range of services priced between $50 and $250 per session. During your free consultation call, we’ll discuss our pricing structure in detail to ensure you have all the information you need and feel confident moving forward.

This is a 15-minute call where you’ll talk with a Silver Birch clinician to explore what you’re looking for in therapy, answer any questions you have, and help you determine if we are the right fit for your needs. It’s also a chance to discuss our services, pricing structure, and what to expect from the therapy process. This call ensures you feel informed and comfortable before beginning your journey with us.

Absolutely not! If you’re ready to go and feel confident you’ve found the right fit while browsing our therapists, you can skip the consultation and book your initial appointment directly. We’re here to support you however you feel most comfortable starting your journey.

We’ll need your name, email, and birth date to get started. We will send you an invitation to our patient portal and provide you with the initial paperwork.

Scheduling is simple and convenient through our Patient Portal, where you can view your clinician’s availability and choose a time that works best for you.

If you prefer to speak with an actual person, feel free to call our office, and one of our friendly support team members will be happy to help you schedule your appointment.

The initial appointment, or intake session, is an important first step in starting your work with us. This session is all about building a partnership between you and your therapist. It’s a chance to share your story, explore your goals for therapy, and talk about what’s most important to you.

Your therapist will take the time to understand your needs by asking about your life, experiences, challenges, and hopes for the future. Together, you’ll begin shaping a plan that feels right for you. Think of it as the beginning of a collaborative journey toward understanding, growth, and healing.

Therapy sessions typically last 50 minutes, though some may be longer depending on your needs and the type of session. Any time commitment over 50 minutes will be something discussed and agreed on between you and your clinician.

The frequency of our sessions can vary and is typically a reflection of the severity of symptoms and how frequently you feel comfortable meeting. After your first session, you and your therapist will decide together based on your needs and goals.

As a general guideline, weekly sessions are often helpful during the first month as you get to know each other and build a strong connection. As symptoms begin to decrease, you and your therapist will discuss the appropriateness of spreading out your sessions from every other week to monthly as you start to feel more like yourself.

Therapy is a deeply personal journey, and the timing of its conclusion varies for everyone. Some people come to therapy to address a specific challenge and may feel ready to end after a few months once they’ve reached their goals. Others use therapy as an ongoing tool for growth and self-discovery. At Silver Birch, we’ll regularly check in to discuss your progress and goals. While the decision to continue therapy is always yours, we’ll provide clinical recommendations throughout your journey.

Psychotherapy and psychiatry are both valuable approaches to mental health care, and current research suggests that a combination of the two is often most effective. Your Silver Birch clinician can answer questions and provide referrals as needed to ensure you receive comprehensive support.

  • Psychotherapy (often called “talk therapy”) focuses on exploring your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to help you navigate challenges, develop coping skills, and achieve personal growth. At Silver Birch our therapy services are provided by doctoral level psychologists, masters level clinicians, and clinicians in training using evidence-based techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and other modalities tailored to your needs.
  • Psychiatry, on the other hand, is a medical discipline provided by licensed psychiatrists. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medications to help manage symptoms. Silver Birch will have psychiatry services in September of 2025, allowing for seamless collaboration.

Silver Birch is not equipped to provide emergency or crisis services. If you or someone you care about is experiencing a mental health crisis, know that help is available. In situations where immediate danger is present, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

For urgent mental health support, you can contact a crisis hotline like the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988. Trained professionals are available 24/7 to provide assistance and connect you with the right resources.

For non-urgent concerns, we’re here to support you during regular business hours. If you have questions or need guidance, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

It’s a common misconception that seeking therapy is a sign of weakness, but the truth is, reaching out for help takes courage and strength. Therapy is a space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment, at your own pace.

In our work together, we’ll focus on helping you feel comfortable, respected, and empowered. We’ll also identify and build on your strengths, giving you the tools to face life’s challenges more effectively. Think of therapy like seeing a professional for your physical health—your mind is just as important, and we’re here to help you care for it.

    1. Friends and family play a vital role in a fulfilling life, offering love, support, and understanding. Therapy, however, provides a confidential, nonjudgmental space where you can freely explore your thoughts, emotions, and challenges without worrying about how it might affect your personal relationships.
    2. Therapists are trained professionals who use evidence-based techniques to help you identify patterns, understand the root causes of your struggles, and develop strategies for meaningful, lasting change. This unique relationship allows for deeper exploration and healing, equipping you with tools and insights that empower you in ways casual conversations cannot.

Think of it like putting a band-aid on a papercut verses getting a couple stitches.   Your support network can handle the papercuts, but they may not have the skills and tools for stitches.  Our trained providers can help you approach situations in a new way, teach you new skills, and listen without judgment in a confidential setting.

There is no right or wrong time to start therapy. When you’re ready to explore how therapy can help, we’re here to help you find the right level of support. Some people begin therapy during a specific crisis or life transition, while others reach out to better understand themselves, improve relationships, or work on personal growth.

If you’re unsure, a free consultation call can help you decide if this is the right next step for you. And if it’s not, that’s okay—we’ll be here whenever you’re ready to start.
